You.. my Son

poem by: Wendy Phelan
Written on Oct 29, 2015

You, my reason for getting out of bed for many days, many years,
You, I see crystal clear, through smoke blurred eyes and milky tears,
You, the joy in my morning, in my day and my night,
You, the reason I fought, no matter the cost of the fight,
You, the one I live without, because I trust in the one above,
You, who trust your secrets are safe in your Mother's love,
You, with dreams in brown eyes, stand proudly at my side,
You, the gift that gives me a reason to live my life with pride,
You are my dearest one, my smile, my heart, you are my Son

I thank you for your wonderful comments. Someone had a lot of control over me and when/if I saw my beautiful Son. He's 21 in a couple of months and I am praying for a miracle that I can be there. Every word comes from love.

I really enjoy your poetry, especially this poem and "My Sunshine". I have a 21 year old son in the Armed service and these poems reminded me of him. Thanks.
