My Sunshine

poem by: Wendy Phelan
Written on Oct 24, 2015

I sit upon my picket fence and dwell on what I swore to pledge,
While I ponder my existence, I am teetering very near the edge
Woken from dreams of terror, hiding in my tear soaked bed
Your fight is not ever fair, foul words attack me in my head
Tears fall freely, and am I no longer strong, I feel like I am dying
My heart beats loudly but I'm deafened by your words, your lying
I will not leave my sunshine, it warms my soul and then I turn a page
Inside me silent battles roar, no more of your shows, upon my stage
Tormented by thoughts of losing my sunshine makes me quicken my stride
Emotions sway like a roller-coaster, never stopping to laugh on the other side
All the time spent wielding your powers, while I stop to smell the flowers,
Being me is worth a thousand hours of my sweetness to your sourness
I believe they'll see me clearly despite you, much before my final breath
I pray them to know love in their life, to know there is life after death
He makes my heart swell with pride, my hopes he's far, far exceeded,
For there is no place upon this Earth, better than where I'm most needed
There's no feeling warmer in this cold place, to be held in esteem by my Boy & Girl
Nothing else matters, nothing comes close, you are everything precious in my world

This sounds like a poem to God and telling him that whomever this person is, he will never take you away from what is good inside of you! Hope I'm right. "Clarksdalepoet"
