Autumn Rain

poem by: Ernest Areheart
Written on May 02, 2015

When I left in Autumn rain
A sense of purpose found me
Absolution never came
You can't take solace lightly

I want to wash away the days
Each one I found by your side
To forget Summer's haze
And push back the rolling tide

The brisk wind on her cheek
As Winter's breath blew wildly
To keep her warm week to week
You can't take lost love mildly

The bloom in those dark eyes
As Spring brought life to heart
The nights under starry skies
Forgetting as they fall apart

Autumn rain comes once more
Every year the sad waves set
Each memory harder to ignore
I'm forgetting to forget
