Summer brain

poem by: Kathleen Woods
Written on Feb 26, 2015

I remember
highlighted red hair creeping down my back
the sun being cracked open, dripping yolk through tainted cracks
swallowing up the pain
painting my face with its warm stare
beaches leaving us sun kissed
never satisfied
pretending with each fest clenching smile
felt like a naked bottle the in-scripted words leaving me casted out at sea
blank memories that are in needs of being stitched back together
white as a chalky board
empty as a pot hole swallowing up once rocky but now paved roads
bending like tan elastics
cracking like stiff knuckles needing some sort of release
put my brain on the table underneath a coaster
keep me from leaving a mark on you
