Rendezvous

poem by: Elizabeth Ladji
Written on Feb 17, 2015

From her palace at night,
  there was light.
Moon and stars,
   the best kind of light.

The lonely Queen
came out and wandered
with her companion;
     the night.

She took the flowers
  as they walked,
and sang a sorrowful song
    that came from her broken heart.

Her emerald green eyes wept
  with every step,
and her heart's shattered glass
   shimmered over the sea.

But the ghost of her soul;
    overcame the darkness,
   and flew away in a flutter of white.

Stunning imagery, Elizabeth! A profoundly melancholy and exceptionally lovely piece.
Estes Dotani commented:
You leave me wondering why you do not add a final line of descriptive ending to this wonderfully worded dramatic imagery.
