Lonely Woman

poem by: Elizabeth Ladji
Written on Feb 12, 2015

she rarely kept her windows open
 when the moon was bright
the softness that came from the sea
   and the rush of starlight
the air after midnight
and the balm of the breeze

as the days passed
she understood she wouldn't be there forever
a change was happening
     she was inside the shell
        of a dream.

Frank J. Davis commented:
Rather than suffering from clinical agoraphobia, this "lonely woman" appears to be living out self-imposed isolation. Lovely and haunting work, Elizabeth!
Estes Dotani commented:
Wow! This is really deep and can cause several thought responses with each reread. This is neat verse I greatly enjoyed. Thank you.
